Shade Solutions for Marinas & Docks

Dock shade must resist uplift on open water, use corrosion-aware hardware, and preserve walkway clearance on narrow piers. Duffer Hollow Designs fabricates cantilever and custom dock structures from Missouri for Lake of the Ozarks, Kentucky Lake, Great Lakes marinas, and reservoir properties nationwide.

Engineering on open water

Lake docks typically see Exposure C or higher wind conditions. Uplift at canopy connections often governs design more than horizontal wind push. Catalog kits rated for backyards are not automatically valid on open piers.

Cantilever for narrow docks

Cantilever shade mounts from the shore or pier edge and extends overhead without posts in the walking path. Critical for boarding areas, fuel docks, and seating at the end of narrow piers.

Materials that survive splash zones

Hot-dip galvanized or powder-coated steel with stainless connection hardware at spray zones extends service life. Fabric must maintain tension; loose panels amplify dynamic wind load.

FAQ

Do you serve major Midwest lake regions?

Yes. Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock, Kentucky Lake, Stockton, Chain O'Lakes, and Great Lakes shorelines are active service areas.

Can you shade a private residential dock?

Yes. Site review covers pier dimensions, exposure, and permit path before engineering.
