Project overview
Athletic dugouts take full sun for hours of games and practices. North Kansas City needed coverage that protected teams without cluttering the sideline with posts that get in the way of coaches, gear, and player movement. We engineered dugout shade with clear sightlines and regional wind performance so the structure works as hard as the season does.
Challenge
Dugout shade fails when posts steal space or frames block coaching sightlines. The facility needed durable overhead coverage, safe clearances for athletes, and an engineered answer for Midwest wind—not a catalog kit that ignores how dugouts are actually used.
Solution
We designed dugout shade with cantilever-friendly geometry, UV-stable fabric, and steel framing rated for the site. Coaches keep their sightlines; players get relief from heat; the city gets documentation that matches a public athletic facility standard.
