Project overview
Lakewood’s pool deck needed shade without a forest of posts. Furniture layout, walkways, and open sightlines mattered as much as UV protection. We engineered a cantilever solution that pushes structure to the perimeter so the deck stays usable—and the shade still earns its wind and moisture ratings for a waterfront-adjacent pool.
Challenge
Center posts ruin pool decks. The owner needed unobstructed space for loungers and circulation, plus materials that tolerate moisture and Midwest storms without looking temporary.
Solution
A cantilever shade structure with corrosion-aware hardware and engineered overhang gives open deck space under real coverage. Guests move freely; the structure still meets the performance expectations of a poolside install.
